Halloween! The scariest of all the holidays, and a favorite of mine. A day to celebrate the living, the dead, and all beings in between by dressing up in costumes and then acting like ourselves, or at least the fun and crazy people we wish we could be. Some love it for the candy, others for the legends. And while Norman Maclean and the rest of us may be "haunted by waters" on the other 364 days of the year, on All-Hallows-Eve the haunting takes on a bit of a different twist.
With scary things on the brain, I tried to think up some of the scariest things in fishing.
How about getting eaten by piranhas? Bad deal.
More likely to occur, but still plenty bloody, is a barbed streamer hook in the hand.
What about this. When landing a fish is suddenly the last thing you want to do.
And definitely if you ever see something like this while sitting in a float tube.
I'm just hoping that I can get over this cold that has been sidelining me so I don't miss out on a third weekend of fishing in a row. Scary indeed.
Until next time,
