Q: How do you know when you are visiting a truly international fly fishing website?
A: When you log on from Portland, Oregon on September 23rd and find the FP headline "Spring".
While many Sexyloopers are enjoying the first days of spring, here in Oregon, and in the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, we are welcoming the beginning of fall, my favorite of the seasons. Cool, crisp mornings, warm, sunny days, freshly harvested apples, red-orange-yellow on the trees, brown trout, steelhead, the list goes on. The days get noticeably shorter and the water cooler, triggering strange urges in fish and fishermen alike.
Fall brings an urgency to everything I do. The long, hot, easy days of summer are gone. Another long, dark, rainy winter is quickly approaching. Right now, though, for a few glorious weeks there is no place I'd rather be than on the river, swinging a fly.
It's all happening.
Until next time,
